Tryst Theatre

A world of great London plays with talented performers taking you on emotional journeys through epic adventures and stories, where the choice is colossal and the variety of shows is endless.

Welcome to London’s West End, a cultural juggernaut where world class productions are spread in more than forty theatres in an area of the capital known as ‘Theatreland’. It is a location where theatre goers from around the world flock to see big name appear in famous roles as well as new talent, finding their place in the entertainment industries. The West End is an exciting place to be.

Some of the biggest sensations are born out of the West End. Take, for example, the hit musical Mamma Mia!, a story that set the world alight when it landed in cinemas all across the globe in 2008, breaking box office records along the way. Well this classic show has its origins on a West End stage, a location it has been found at for ten years now – an occasion recently marked onstage with the tenth anniversary show attended by ABBA stars Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.

It of course tells the story of Sophie, daughter of Donna, the owner of a local taverna. She is soon to be wed but yearns for her father to take her down the aisle; a yearning made worse by the fact that she has never met him. In preparation for the big day she invites three contenders to the occasion, based on her mother’s diary. Hopefully she will find out the truth in time to walk down the aisle.

Along the way, the cast breaks out into the songs of ABBA, with hits such as “SOS”, “Thank You For The Music”, “Super Trooper”, “Chiquita”, “Honey Honey”, “Waterloo”, “Dancing Queen”, “The Winner Takes It All” and of course “Mamma Mia!”

All of this is currently taking place at the Prince of Wales Theatre, a location that has held the show since it transferred from the Prince Edward Theatre. It originally opened in its original location on Tuesday 6th April 1999.

It has broken box office records in many ways, including bringing in £155 million in the United Kingdom alone. As with many other West End shows, the effect has been universal and inspirational.

It means that you should get your West End theatre plays tickets ready, so that you can enjoy the West End show of your dreams!
